Chilean Economic Activities

The United States is Chile’s second main supplier of agricultural and food ingredients after Argentina (US$195,871,429). Chile is open to innovative technologies to replace scarce and high-cost labor and improve water efficiency usage. Automated equipment such as unmanned tractors (for planting, harvesting, fumigating, and weed removal), and robot/workers are being used and the market is eager for new and improved generations of robotic equipment.

As for mining, the Chilean mining sector is investing in new technologies to become more sustainable and support the country’s climate change goals. Mining projects are incorporating desalination and renewable energy to reduce their carbon footprints. By 2023, the Chilean Consejo Minero estimates that 63 percent of electricity will come from clean energy sources.
